Barony Course at Port Royal

The Barony Course at Port Royal, a George Cobb design that offers another fun challenge on the island. Infamous for some palms in the middle of the fairway on a few holes, the Barony course is a great compliment to its sister course, Robbers Row. The Barony is similar to Robbers Row in a lot of ways; open yet tree lined fairways, small greens, and a lot of twists and turns on the back nine. The Barony offers more of a challenge than its counterpart, with a lot more water that comes into play that requires a fair amount of precision. Like it’s sister course, the Barony is in excellent condition. Manicured fairways, deep and well taken care of bunkers, and smooth greens that run very nicely. A standard on the island, the Barony has tight bermuda rough that requires a soft touch around the greens. Where Barony lacks is in course layout and design, as there are no eye catching holes that make you go wow! Port Royal offers except facilities for pre round practice. A bit overpriced in the morning, once the mid afternoon hits the rates become very reasonable. The Barony course is definitely #2 in the Heritage Collection of course.
