Robbers Row Course at Port Royal

Port Royal Robbers Row course. This George Cobb/Willard Byrd design and Pete Dye redesign is a fun test. Unique for thin Bermuda rough around the greens and a thicker Bermuda fringe, you better be smart where you miss around the greens. Land in the fringe, you have a thicker lie, roll into the rough, you are dealing with a touchy thin lie chip. Course plays fairly open and the front 9 is pretty strait. Hit the back 9 and the course gets more interesting. Far more twist and turns, with a hard dog leg left 10, short dogleg right par 5 14th and three finishing holes with sharp dog legs. Score early so you can be rewarded with aggressive plays on the back. Greens are in good condition and roll well. Port Royal does a great job at taking care of their courses. Not the most unique layout but it’s a good course for all skill levels. A bit over priced in the mornings but the price after 3pm is a steal on the Island.
